What to do?????
People still ask me what we can do. Here are a few things:
LEXINGTON
Lexington. The Chamber of Commerce who supports this forced annexation. We can shop elsewhere, and in as little as three months the City misleaders will change their minds about the annexation IF EVERYONE WHO IS AGAINST FORCED ANNEXATION STOPS SHOPPING IN
LEXINGTON. The Assistant City Manager recently told our friend Tommy Cox that they were not worried about a boycott, saying “we have been threatened with that before”. Walser doesn’t believe we will do it. WILL WE? Will we boycott or will we take the insult laying down, endure the violation of our human rights like sheep or will we stand up like Americans and exercise our rights to shop anywhere we want? It is only a matter of habit.
BOYCOTT
Unfortunately, a boycott is the best
and last tool we have left.
It is not what we wanted.
We hold no ill feelings against the citizens of
Pretend
Lexington is not there and it will be easy.
”The census data on the web suggests that there are 7900 occupied
households in Lexington and 50,000 in Davidson, outside
Lexington. How
many of the 50000 normally shop in
Lexington?? 1/3?? 1/4?? Let’s say
1/4.That says the purchasing being done at, say Food Lion, is approx. 2/3
from the county. So, let’s say that store does, say, $1M per week. A
50% effective boycott could change that hypothetical revenue by one
third, down to, say, 650K. That would be quite enough to bring on
constrictions in the staffing along with who knows what other
ramifications” –Bill Russell

We will NOT boycott thoes businesses who help us and have a sign against forced annexation at their business!
Support rayne brown! By “support” I mean more than just vote for her. She needs donations, and people to help in her campaign, and we all need volunteers to help at the voting booths. We all know that she is our ONLY chance of being DE-ANNEXED, and with her in the House it will be a very good chance – probably a better chance than winning in court, and we will be protected from future annexation attempts.
PROTEST
Donate to the fight…We will need more money as time goes on, and paying for an attorney is cheaper than paying double taxes
“The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions that I wish it to be kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all.” - Thomas Jefferson.

In Thomasville, we had several petitions. Nothing and I mean nothing matters to the politicians….they are all builders or developers themselves. All they care about is money. Little man just gets run over, nothings going to change. Web man in tville

Hi. Thanks for this place to say stuff that city residents already know about. My question is this- who do we vote for in the next elections and when are they and are not they all the same? Linda in Lex.

Don’t know, hope someone diffrent will run. Let you know, but even if they all sound the same vote for the challenger. It will be better than nothing. Elections in November. Randall Cox

Dear Keith,
I forwarded my letter and I hope I receive a response soon.
Thank you so very much for your help. I have to tell you that I tried to get my neighbors involved against the Town of Clayton, but it is unbelievable how some folks just don’t want to make an effort to fight against something that is so terribly wrong! It seems to be that as long as these folks have a job and their material possessions, they just rollover and play dead when there is a cause to stand up for because they are just plain lazy and figure that govt. wouldn’t make bad decisions and that it can’t be bad for them !
It boggles the mind.
I will let you know if I hear from anyone. By the way, I contacted Bob Etheridge’s office about my imminent domain case and the Clayton blew them off!
Clayton’s initial plans for my area is to make it into a ETJ, extra territorial jurisdiction and then annex us. What snakes in the grass!
Keep me on the list and thanks so much for taking a stand and fighting crazy govt!

The following candidates have filed to run for municipal office in the Nov. 6 general election:
Lexington
Mayor: Charlie Alexander, Marvin Callahan, Richard Thomas (incumbent), John Walser
At-large city council (two seats): George Clifton, Becky Klass, Ed Ward (incumbent)
Ward 5: Tonya Lanier …..Let’s all call them and ask them how they feel about FORCING people to be part of their City. We can help the candidate that has a fair, Constitionally sound approach to growth…
Ward 6: Larry Beck (incumbent)

The StopNCAnnexation website has launched a new webpage that will track all candidates that have publicly supported the reform of forced annexation.
When you ask these local candidates for their position on the issue, try to get them to post that position on their campaign website. If a candidate will do that, I will add them to the “Candidates For Reform” webpage.
Thanks.
